Therma-Tru is committed to the responsible use of natural resources in creating high-performance entry and patio door systems.

Since our founding in 1962, Therma-Tru has had a proud heritage of philanthropy and a culture of doing the right thing in the communities where we do business. We are dedicated to continuous improvement, always looking for processes and materials that limit our impact on our environment.

Below are some sustainable attributes of Therma-Tru products and practices that can apply to a variety of green building standards, including LEED1 and NAHB2.

Energy Efficiency

Therma-Tru’s fiberglass entry door systems are ENERGY STAR® compliant and NFRC3 Certified, helping homeowners save money on energy costs and protecting the environment through superior energy efficiency. Filled with polyurethane foam4, Therma-Tru fiberglass doors provide as much as five times the insulation of most wood doors.*

Recycling and Reduced Landfill Waste

We take measures at all of our facilities to ensure that our associates and manufacturing processes recycle waste products such as paper, plastic, cardboard, steel, propane canisters, wood, cut-outs and scrap doors. We are finding innovative ways to reuse waste materials and expand recycling efforts. more than 50% of our fiberglass end rails are made from over 95% recycled content. Most off our scrap frame material is reused to make new lite frames. Leftover material cut out of the door for glass is reused as insulation.

Fiberglass Doors Mean Less Wood Use

Therma-Tru’s AccuGrain® process captures the fine graining detail of genuine high-end wood doors without harvesting endangered wood species, while offering superior durability and energy efficiency over wood doors, further reducing waste. In 2021, Therma-Tru diverted over 6.5 million pounds of waste from our landfills – that’s the weight of about 260 school busses.

Sustainable Forestry

We partner with wood suppliers that utilize various certification standards including Sustainable Forest Initiative (SFI) and the State of Oregon's Forest Practice Act, to ensure that the wood products we use come from managed forests. We ask our vendors to certify that they meet our environmental, social and governing (ESG) standards before agreeing to do business with them.
